Mungo McCosh
Welcome to the website of Mungo McCosh. Mungo is a Scottish Painter, Printmaker and Illustrator.

Mungo studied at St Martin's School of Art in London and then The Glasgow School of Art where he took a degree in Environmental art.

In 1995 he moved to Istanbul where he established a studio and alongside other projects spent three years painting a Rood Screen in the Crimean Memorial Church. During this time he learned Turkish and, in the absence of facilities for etching, taught himself relief printmaking.

Since returning to Scotland in 2001 he has established a diverse artistic practise, moving happily between such apparently disparate disciplines as portraiture, mural painting, relief printmaking and pen and ink illustration.

He worked in Iraq as a war artist in 2004 and subsequently accompanied the Prince of Wales as his official artist on number of overseas tours.

Mungo has exhibited widely in both the UK and abroad and illustrated books to great acclaim.

He married the Irish painter Phoebe Cope in 2012 and they share a studio in the Scottish borders with their two young children.
